The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call received by Boulder County Communications at approximately 10:44 a.m. reporting an unknown emergency at a residence in the 1400 block of Ridge Road.

During the initial call, the emergency communications specialist noted indicators suggesting the caller may have been experiencing a mental health crisis.

Deputies arrived on scene at approximately 11:02 a.m. and made contact with an adult male outside the residence who was in possession of a weapon. According to law enforcement, within minutes of deputies’ arrival, the individual used the weapon on himself. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

No additional individuals were located inside the residence or on the surrounding property. Officials confirmed there is no known threat to the public.

Detectives with the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office responded and are conducting a joint investigation with the Boulder County Coroner’s Office. The official cause and manner of death will be determined by the Coroner’s Office.

54-year-old David Wilcock. No further details are being released at this time pending the ongoing investigation.
