A large-scale emergency response was underway Tuesday at the Intermountain Health Primary Children’s Hospital Larry H. and Gail Miller Family Campus after reports of an active shooter forced the facility into an immediate lockdown.
The hospital, located on N Miller Campus Dr in Lehi, was secured after authorities received calls about an armed individual who allegedly entered the premises and began firing. Law enforcement agencies quickly flooded the area, working to secure the building and protect patients, staff, and visitors.
Witnesses described moments of fear and confusion as the situation unfolded. One person inside the facility said, “We heard loud noises and then alarms—staff started telling everyone to get into rooms and stay quiet. It was terrifying.” Another witness outside the hospital reported seeing a heavy police presence arrive within minutes, adding, “There were officers everywhere, and people were being told to stay back. You could tell something serious was happening.”
Authorities have not yet confirmed the number of victims or injuries, and it remains unclear whether the suspect has been apprehended. Officials are continuing to sweep the facility as a precaution.
Families inside the hospital were instructed to shelter in place, while members of the public have been urged to avoid the area to allow emergency crews to respond effectively.
The incident has raised significant concern given the nature of the location, with many expressing worry for the safety of children, families, and healthcare workers inside.
Officials say updates will be provided as more verified information becomes available. This remains a developing story.
